Shea Concrete History
When Ernie Shea founded his precast concrete company back in 1949, building foundations were still made with concrete blocks. That was Ernie's primary market for years, and with wife Mary and son Ed by his side, he soon earned a reputation for being an honest, easy going businessman who was good to his customers, his employees and fair with his competition.
Four generations later, E.F. Shea New England Concrete Products is now the area's largest precast concrete manufacturer specializing in everything from septic tanks and culverts to high tech Shea Block wall systems. Ed and wife Judi now operate his father's company, which has 100 employees, with help from his four daughters, three sons-in-law, and two grandchildren.
Headquartered in Wilmington , E.F. Shea's great expansion began in earnest about five years ago, with the purchase of a competitor's plants in Amesbury, Massachusetts and Nottingham, New Hampshire . The acquisition, which included employees as well as facilities, has enabled explosive growth.
Despite the tremendous growth the business has experienced, it has remained a very close knit operation with the same values that Mr. Shea instilled when he started. That being quality products, competitive prices and unparalleled service.
Our state certified manufacturing facility is state of the art with a fully computerized batch plant enabling us to maintain strict quality control. Along with our large inventory and expanded product line we are able to service the needs of our customers whether large or small.
E.F. Shea is the area's largest supplier of septic tanks in the northeast, and is one of only a few companies that uses the special water-tight monolithic forms required by many towns. The company also sells manholes, box culvert, precast curbing, residential stairways and bulkheads.
