March 26, 2018 / News

On January 18, Shea Concrete Products of Amesbury, MA filled the training room of their brand-new precast concrete headquarters on Haverhill Road for the first of their series of 2018 Technical Engineering Seminars.

Drawing a maximum crowd of 50 construction, engineering, and precast professionals, Shea’s January seminar offered a full-day of technical learning from a range of industry-leading speakers.

These sessions included opening remarks from Shea President Greg Stratis, information on Environment 21 stormwater systems from Dino Pezzimenti, a presentation on ReCon Wall Systems from Technical Support Manager Bill Henzler, a presentation from Norweco’s Paul Cannon on the Singulair Green Bio-Kinetic wastewater treatment system, and a deep dive into Easi-Set precast concrete buildings from Jeremy Smith.

Shea also offered guests a tour of their state-of-art precast concrete manufacturing facility. The new headquarters, which opened in January 2018, was designed with LEED-certification in mind by utilizing a wide range of sustainable materials and practices, including a roof-mounted solar panel array, sustainable precast concrete construction, brownfield and wastewater considerations, and steps to minimize construction waste throughout the construction process.

The day of seminar sessions finished with statements on Precast Manufacturing Facility Certification by National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) Director of Quality Assurance Programs, Phil Cutler.

”It was exciting for all of us at Shea Concrete Products to host such a well-attended technical seminar. Our team is committed to helping engineers, specifiers, and contractors with any precast questions and/or solutions. And as part of that commitment we will continue to host similar events going forward” said Greg Stratis.

This event was offered by Shea at no cost to attendees, who also received 5 Professional Development Hours (PDH’s) for attending. Due to the interest in attending this event, spaces filled up quickly and demand for future sessions remains high among industry professionals.

“Attending the Shea Concrete Products seminar on January 18, 2018 was educational to learn more about concrete product manufacturing being tied with the NPCA plant certification program. It clearly reflects that Shea Concrete provides top quality products from Recon retaining wall block, water quality structures, to a wide-range of precast concrete products including Easi-Set concrete buildings. As a Professional Civil Engineer, I am confident to provide Shea Concrete products on my design plans” said Erich R. Nitzsche, PE of Commonwealth Engineering Inc.

Shea will be hosting the second technical engineering seminar on March 28, which will host some new speakers covering topics including ReCon wall systems, Stormwater Treatment Systems, Easi-Set Concrete Buildings, Singulair Green Bio-Kinetic Wastewater Treatment Systems, NPCA Plant Certification, and tours of the headquarters and manufacturing plant facilities.

Shea’s March 28 Technical Engineering Seminar is fully subscribed at this time and dates will soon be released for additional seminars that are scheduled for May and June.

Shea Concrete would like to thank all speakers and attendees for making the first 2018 Technical Education Seminar at the new headquarters a success, and looks forward to hosting more successful seminars for years to come!
